What Do Shaolin Monks Wear?

corners dated

At the beginning of the year 1922 the first rotary press for the workshop production of the stamps is used in France.

Use of this revolutionary and promising new technique will debut a bit hectic, but as this mode of printing will soon give satisfaction, it will be gradually generalized and constantly perfected, to supplant typography term definitely flat, previously used since our earliest stamps.

must say that many manipulations tedious and often manual and will be avoided thanks to this upgrade: previously, when printed sheets of 300 stamps, then had to erase the paper, then dry them with infinite care, then separate them into two sheets of 150, then pierce the record, store ...

For the manufacture of wheels famous, he even had to cut into vertical strips that are glued end to end manually and one by one, before enrolling them and put them in boxes! The hopes for this new release were so many great ...

The paper gummed already arrived in the form of large rolls adapted to the rotary press: there was, after printing, to pierce and separate the leaves, automatically numbered.

As with any new technique, of course proceeded to trial, and it turns out that the stamp chosen for these tests is the type Sower: This is the 10 c. Green (Yvert 159), reserved for print, not the patch for the time to freedom from simple letter, which required much larger prints.

It was prudent at that time the side of the boulevard Brune, and modest! It was not going headlong into a new technique for the manufacture of millions of stamps.

10, v. Green Sower will long be the only stamp printed well.

And besides, it was economical, because it seems that the results of these tests, once obtained a satisfactory result, ie the first sheets of stamps printed by a rotary press (which would become the media 1) has indeed subsequently been offered for sale at Post Office counters. There are no small savings!

It is a widely regarded in the leaves from the first A + A cylinder used as tests that were eventually sold. This explains the defects often found on these stamps: print defects, pitting, dates, etc. ...

Finally, when I often say .... Must still have a chance to find these days!

The following pictures show you a few:

Stamps in the last row imperforated (the stitching was done from bottom to top) from a later printing yet: D + D dated June 12, 1922

Big printing defect on the bottom sheet and stitching gradually shifted to the left

*************

The need for equipment special print is the origin of the specific type of these stamps: the type IB. It was made from old punch 10, c. which was initially red (Yvert No 138) and type IA.

It was copied and reworked to give 4 galvanos 50 service, which had to first be bent, ie bent and assembled to give an impression cylinder. A round cylinder then printed 2 sheets of 100 stamps, separated by the famous parallelograms that can be distinguished from the two "planks" of A + A.

As this release 1 involved a cylinder and an inkstand, date and number of sheets were printed at the same time, and are therefore the same color tone: that is green. Moreover, it was necessary to reach this end of the recesses on the left and right in these parallelograms, in order to accommodate this information.

All these features make the charm of these first leaves to the type IB, and allow for easy recognition.

Subsequently, in 1923, the presses will prevent the work it was to identify these sites, and print the date and numbers over the parallelograms in black this time, with the with another cylinder, so they are more visible.
A step forward.

*************

Autodial rotating sheets facilitated accounting previously manual.

Leaves odd corresponded to one of two A, and leaves the other pairs, each of which can be identified by the different aspect of his parallelograms.

Any study of dies dated follows.

Subsequently, the workshop will add even markings on these parallelograms, different for each of two sheets of a cylinder.

The first brands appeared in June 1924 with the stamp at 85 c. Sower red line, but will first be visible at the bottom left corner. The
here also:

Only in March 1926 with the 30th c. blue Sower that these marks are visible on the lower right of the sheet, so in the corners dated, with the draw H + J.

**************

Because of numerous leaves defective, it often happened that in a package of one hundred leaves, one is obliged to reject some with errors. A leaf replacement was then inserted into the package, and not to hinder the accounting, the replacement sheet must include the course number of the sheet with errors that had been deleted.

To do this, it nullified by hand, the composter, the number printed and is replaced by the sheet number that had been rejected:

With improved mastering this new technique, sheets with errors are subsequently became more rare, but sometimes that happens anyway, so it is possible to find such lower left corner of sheet re-numbered for all other rotary stamps.

Sometimes even a sheet already renumbered again must replace another sheet with errors, and is therefore being re-re-numbered!

***************

Corners dated, and even the leaves whole, these initial prints are rotating very rare: we know only three days to this famous drawing A + A, the first date is Saturday, March 4, 1922, date for any collector mythical corner dated!

On 7 March 24 and complete the draw, but the 24 has the number 4 printed sec.

In over 35 years of stamp collecting, I never found a dated corner of the draw!
If you see one one day, you know now who you could sell ...

However, I saw negotiate two full leaves. I of course immediately jumped on the first, but unfortunately missed the second. The seller (VSO celebrates organizer of the Rue Drouot) also was unaware of the rarity! The buyer

not, unfortunately for me ...

In total, we know four in all and for all. And you're very lucky to find three here together for the first time the fourth is the Postal Museum ...
This illustrates perfectly the tedious explanations given above.

Note the absence of a number of press at the gutter, useless since there was only one at the time! And the absence of the 3 future color dots located midway.

The last two, photographed in black and white, have the added advantage of having been printed consecutively (numbers 85714 and 85715 is next) and thus represent a full rotation of cylinder A + A here somehow restored after more than 88 years of separation ....

Note: all three are replacement sheets, re-numbered by hand.

Hoping you feel like giving you begin the collection of corners dated, collection admittedly somewhat unfashionable today, but full of many wonders the scope of those who can discover them, and a lot of fascinating information and often unknown to our friends stamps.

Alpine Iva-w205 Backgrounds

Joseph Kabila

All world leaders seem to be completely blind when the power is. They forget that the palaces are not sufficient to protect them when the wind of change blows with a little more intensity. They continue to show confidence that gives them their position, but they always end up falling from a great height. I do not act as an ominous bird here about our young spokes. He young, he is powerful, he is the head of a majority in the senate and lower house, his friends control everything, the central bank to the last beggar who will be forced to vote for the spokes at the next election if elections there, etc.. About elections, Kenya beats campaign for the award of any new constitution by referendum. And the lady who did my braids together with her friends in the art and the area, refusing to even go pick up their voter cards. Intrigued by their rebellion also determined unusual, I asked them why. The answer: no constitution or constitution, the misfortunes of our lives do not change, So why get that piece of paper?

And what are the evils of Kabila? Maybe not much. Just signs. Let's start with the resignation of his close associate (languages informed say it is his brother in law) the Governor of South Kivu. The spokes could not do anything to keep him in office. It is said that man sinned by arrogance. It seems that his relationship with the Rais gave him a superiority complex which reached a level higher each time. Why everybody hated. The governor has not therefore been able to read the situation, so he did not see coming or did not prepare against the mobilization of members mounted with its almighty encotre Maroy. Is there division in the ranks of the spokes because we know that the two South Kivutiens were part of a clique even partisan?

There are also money problems but large enough that newspapers do not speak. The spokes is outdated because the coffers are empty. Kleptocrats to make red a Kinshasa Mobutu to see how fast they are disappearing money. Result, the public service is outstanding! You may say well it works little or nothing but it is there and has a budget, only it disappears who knows where. So the public impayƩe.L army too. She dies of hunger, this army we want to see take over the security of the country and get rid of MONUC. All this money is being marketed in new systems of corruption Kabila. There are indications that signal that the international community would not be as eager to pay other amounts as in 2006. There is finally a small doight that says a major player in this community would have dared ask the spokes do not stand in the forthcoming elections. Kabila's building looks more and more legendary hero with feet of clay. A small stone fell on the feet ... And who said that the problem was Nkunda DRC?

DOWN OR NOT?

Between New York and Kinshasa, I wonder. And of course around the issue of withdrawal of MONUC. Alan Doss has done his best to convince the Security Council to engage in dialogue with Kabila who no longer suffers from the special envoy of Ban Ki Moon. The tour was almost played, but the trip in Kinshasa appears to have less interest than those charged by pressing the sarabande diplomatic triggered by the intransigent master in Tehran. But I am certain that the French still in charge of peacekeeping missions will seek out the latest maps. The first of these appears to be failure of Congolese politics since Joseph Kabila's victory, both sung and praised by the international community since 2006.

elections approaching and nothing has been done. Maybe all these people came to understand why there was Mushaki why the Goma conference was messed up when they were installed in this town a new diplomatic arsenal, etc.. Failure, failure, and even failure: from the program to the Amani Amani Leo (we are short of terms of Kabila in Congo Swahili. Failed not only to Kabila, who has only scratched the five trails, which lost all wars against Nkunda until the police arrested James Kabarebe latter without cause in January 2009. Failure but also for the organization of municipal elections. Kabila wants to change the constitution in order to get elected again. This will cause a stir. Which gives the French UN one more reason to find a new version of MONUC with new misssion?? Presumably not, but probably it will make us a new version.

Everyone now knows why there was Mushaki and that has not finished yet. There is unfinished business, not only for Nkunda's troops and its political executives, the Great Lakes region, but also for the international community itself. His job should be to reason with the colt who takes a ride even crazier than the last quarter of 2008. The unfinished work especially for the guys on ground today. The absence of state calls for an extraordinary responsibility for the troops on the ground especially in Kivu. They are more motivated. The cause opposed to Mushaki is still intact. The international community has shown how it can harm the cause, actively or passively. It is to these guys on ground he comes back to order. We have to prepare, the days come that anything can happen, if we stick to the eagerness to get rid of Kabila shows Witness what useless but harmful Alan Doss ... Wait and see!

Kivu FIRST, THEN ECUADOR AND AFTER?

by MONUC, MONUC is not starting. We do not close a store that pays. At the UN you can imagine. If I could meet Alan Doss I would ask him a simple question and you can guess. He and all the vultures were a year ago claiming such a din hue and cry that General Laurent Nkunda was the obstacle to peace. It's been one year and three months he was kept under house arrest by the police in Kigali Joseph Kabila, and peace continues to elude, not Kabila who does not need recess, but the Congolese people. It became clear enough that he was and still is not the obstacle to peace. The vicissitudes experienced by the people watch every day he is alone much of the solution being given its political questions still unanswered and the military capacity of his men on the field. Rumors believe that Kabila does not consider further the importance of these two elements of the restoration equation of state on the extent of the said Republic of Congo starting with the East. While he has not the stranglehold he dreams of having in Kivu, the spokes meet again today with Enyele on the flat. These incredible

Enyele are a godsend for MONUC. Since it could no longer say "No No Nkunda job" this unnecessary force would have to pack up the invective in ever more threatening from the marshes. Now Alan Doss and spoiled his soldiers, looters, rapists and merchants of weapons can sing a new slogan: "Bring it Enyele anytime, That's the salvation." These are sacred Enyele for less desirable for MONUC and those who want it to be perpetuated in the DRC. You can see Congoindependant monitoring their saga. But who are they? It's good mix Alumni mobutienne the DSP, the strength of Bemba, the ex-Faz, and especially Ngbandi dispossessed by the conquerors of Mobutu. It would be naive to regard these people as mere bandits villages. They are guided by Senators sitting in the upper chamber of a national assembly Kabila or any pprdienne and some members supported the added bonus of Brazzaville and Bangui. All these people are tired of the strong man in Kinshasa. In 2006 I was talking about the departure of the DRC in tatters because of Kahemba. Kivu is what you know, and now Mbandaka. What is the next area ready to show Joseph Kabila he believes the head of a state, but in reality it is in tatters!

His military mentor in Kigali, James Kabarebe did not fly to his aid in Mbandaka. And for good reason, he has plenty on his plate. He has been appointed defense minister in Rwanda. Some believe that this is a promotion that would protect against more justice in the case of the Congolese general Laurent Nkunda held for Kabila. This reading is, how understandable, since the military justice falls under the tutelage of the coup of his ministry, it would be him over this justice! However, there may be another reading of the appointment. You believe it's a bit farfetched, but that's it. Aware that his network have resulted in a maneuver that the English would call totally counter-productive (Nkunda's arrest, business in the DRC, the mafia is going on etc.), we can predict that the Almighty Chief of staff by becoming a minister, loses a little or a lot of his pananche, and suddenly, his clout both militarily and politically. Here, I'm still depressed, but I get the hat very low for the strong man in Kigali, we see that he knows how to dot the i. A political appointment to the chief, it is well to the exit door very nicely! His replacement acts listed as some already know that, in essence, Kayizari prepares to take the job. The networks of the new minister of defense, where are they and what do they serve? The speculative point of view it can be argued that nowhere in the first issue, and nothing the second. We must deal with the DRC with all this, maybe tomorrow. The vultures are starting to get nervous, you read the ICG report? We'll talk.
